Re: OpenEMS multi-processor performance

Garias, let me express my scepticism about the configuration. It is exactly the configuration I always try to avoid. There are too many SLOW cores, and too little RAM, and channels per-core. This machine is good for fast repetitive solving of short equations, working with small chunks of huge data (...

Multiport excitation with delay and attenuation. Best practices?

As far as I remember, many ports can be excited in OpenEMS, with the same excitation signal. But how about delaying and attenuating the signal on per-port basis? Particularly, I am interested in driving an array of lumped ports attached to lambda/4 metal probes. Inserting a delaying structure, or a ...

Re: Need large simulation models for Benchmarking

Ok, I had three months simulating a 2x2x2 m space with Tx/Rx antennas and scattering objects. The goal was to analyze a performance of cm wave radar in transition from near to far field, as well as to see the evolution of reflected pulse depending on changing back-scattering conditions. It was reall...

Re: Volumetric data for Near Field Magnetic Field Strength (H)

When you define a dump box, you define the data to be dumped, its file name, and storing format. Examine help AddDump() for details. It is quite a complete tool, as you can find, capable of dumping not only rough data, but also subsampling and even extracting a frequency domain components. Define se...

Re: Polar plot for Radiation Patern in dB format script is here

>Noob question:
you should refer to any linux forums, or man. in short, the latter is a better serviced envelope to the former. And the former itself is a satellite tool to apt. so the usage depends on how tricky you are in linux environment.

Re: KiCAD to OpenEMS (PCB export)

I do not use KiCAD much, but holding such tool in the pocket sounds great! I just want to ask, how does it create meshlines? using line-edge vertices, or taking 1/3 rule into account for every edge? in between the main coordinates, what distribution do you use? Can important vertex and main edge coo...

Re: OpenEMS IRC Channel

Human psychology. When you make it open and free, people try running it on Core2 with 4Gb.... and complain, that "it is raw and resource hungry, while some guy in the lab can make it in HFSS for me" When you sell it for 120 000, people tend to use 5-10% of that budget for presents, including a new g...

Re: NF2FF Phase

isn't phase of the pulse removed when normalizing the frequency response at the output? Then again, if it is a true synthetic Gaussian pulse, why should there be deviations? AFAIK it should be flat as a board.

Re: NF2FF Phase

I didn't do it in traditional fashion, as in the example. but I did phase extraction with a plane wave box. this instrument extracts the plane wave from itself in the box exterior, so it is zeroed, but leaves the excitation inside the box. If there is something disturbing the field inside it, the th...

Re: OpenEMS IRC Channel

IRC!? After Emule lost its popularity, no-one even remember IRC.
We could also dig the ICQ, or Usenet... oh. how about mirroring wiki to Gopher? In my previous lab, 12 years ago, people were still receiving e-mails by UUCP... just because...
