Re: Calculations of absorption/scattering spectra

isn't it a problem equivalent to RCS/scattering in setup? Let me cite Thorsten: " (Plane Wave PW...) It's not a dummy box, it is the box in which the plane wave is excited. Inside it you have the excited + scattered wave (total field). Outside it only the scattered one." So you just collect the scat...

Re: Which hardware for openEMS?

>>i5-4570 up to 3.6GHz Never trust this Intel's deceit. You almost never get this clock-rate, except on "unlocked" cpus with overclocking board bioses. Normally, in computation, you should see the minimal number of clock boost steps (usually 2-3 x 100MHz) for "all cores loaded". And then remember, t...

Re: Which hardware for openEMS?

Second-hand DDR3 system with 4 channels would be all right. Just try to get a system with ECC/buffered ram to avoid surprises from unbuffered memory.

Re: Which hardware for openEMS?

Most computational software requires fast cores, rather than multicore platform. And OPENEMS is an experimental free software, so no-one seems been optimizing it for ultra-performance. But the main factor for most of simulators not heavily relying on data-partitioning, is RAM. OpenEMS supports neste...

Re: Win:AppCSXCAD very slow on start after Spectre/Meltdown

I really don't know. I am not a programmer myself. I tried some basic things on C in the past, but not that advanced APIs. I just had an idea that it may require to much control of privileges when talking with cross-platform API. And the slowdown happens exactly in that area, according to Microsoft....

Win:AppCSXCAD very slow on start after Spectre/Meltdown upd.

It looks like AppCSXCAD got very-very slow on start after Spectre/Meltdown updates were applied. Actually, I am not sure which updates affect this. AFAIK, every software that calls the core for any acl related operation too much experiences heavy performance drop now. Particularly in Pre-Win10 OSes,...

Re: Proposal for the implementaion of Fraunhofer far field

>"FFT and interpolation routines in Octave and Python are fast enough" just a note: "Fast Fourier transforms are computed with the FFTW or FFTPACK libraries depending on how Octave is built. " i.e. it is not related to Octave. At least FFTW is blazingly fast with a bunch of boosting options. And, AF...

ConvertHDF5_VTK eats all RAM and freezes

I am dumping the simulation data to HDF5, just in case, because VTK format is a total mess; only real data, not structured, base64 obfuscation sabotages disk compression and archiving... So, today I tried extracting phase information from one of my very big simulations. The HDF5 dump is 60 Gb. The i...

Re: Plotting port signal oscillogram? And U/I out of synch t

1)Yes, I mean with matlab interface for printing reports. "ReadUI" Great! Thank you! that's what I wanted to know. 2)Ah, thank you very much for explanation. 3)"These are not from openEMS" ah, I think, I forgot to turn off the "bulb" when dumping the model. sorry. I am simulating the radar packet pr...

Re: Plotting port signal oscillogram? And U/I out of synch t

P.S.
the port probe time-domain data is saved in port_it#, port_ut#
But what is there in port_excite_#.vtp, and port_resist_#.vtp ?
