On the simulation of lossy material

I see in this post: https://www.openems.de/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=285&p=1720&hilit=dielectric+loss+tangent#p1720 that with openEMS, we can only simulate one frequency point at a time if dielectric loss is incorporated, but according to the wiki https://openems.de/index.php/Dispersive_Material_Pro...

On the convergence criteria of openEMS

I see that "Energy" is calculated on-the-fly during openEMS simulation. So my questions are:
1.What is the criteria that openEMS terminates the simulation? Does it have to do with Energy level?
2.Which code calculates the energy level and which code judges that the simulation has converged?

On the stability condition and the fine resolution setting

In line 97 of the tutorial script RadarUWBTutorial, the fineResolution is set as fineResolution = C0 / (f_0 + f_c) / sqrt(substrate.epsR) / unit / 40; The stability condition of the traditional FDTD is as in the attachment. I know the fine resolution has to do with the stability condition, but how e...

On the generation of FDTD mesh using openEMS

I am reading the instructions on page http://openems.de/index.php/FDTD_Mesh , and have some questions: (1). At the edge of 2D metal, the mesh line is 1/3 inside and 2/3 outside, so the "metal" constructed with FDTD mesh is smaller than the actual metal, right? (2). If (1) is the case, can I use the ...

How to simulate material with magnetic loss using openEMS?

Is the feature of simulating magnetic lossy material, e.g., material with non-zero sigma_m, included in the current version of openEMS?

EC FDTD algorithm adopted by openEMS

Hello, everyone, As I read in this article: "Open-Source Software for Electromagnetic Scattering Simulation: The Case of Antenna Design", openEMS adopts the EC FDTD method, whose principles are explained in "Composite right/left-handed extended equivalent circuit (CRLH-EEC) FDTD: stability and dispe...

Did you click on SOLID COLOR and then choose E-Field?
Great, this time I toggled "solid color" to E-field and got a moving picture. Thank you!

Re: Question regarding getting started tutorial

Now I found a working script. It's in the matlab\Tutorials folder named "Rect_Waveguide.m". It's tested on
openEMS 64bit -- version v0.0.35-74-g0e54fbf
MATLAB R2021a student version.
Thanks for the above reply.

Re: Another question on Tutorial: Parallel Plate Waveguide

Hi, At the start I struggled with paraview but I found after lots of experimentation it is a very powerful visual aid. I have not used the parallel waveguide example but my experience as a newbie, you need to ensure you click on the group vtr. You need look in the colouring section and click on sol...

Re: Question regarding getting started tutorial

Hi, I am also new to OpenEMS but from my experience you must create the mesh lines manually and they are critical. You need to spend time ensuring you have the mesh setup correctly. Its a good idea to include the script file you are using so it can be scrutinised. MPC. I posted the MATLAB script th...
