Re: Using material for wideband simulation

I think there were some matlab script to fit a curve to a Drude/Lorentz model but I'm not sure. In any case this is not an easy task. Ideally you create an ideal transmission line where you know what the result should look like to... But to be honest, usually this is not really necessary. It is my e...

Re: (Newbee) Magnetic field between coils

Doing real coils with FDTD usually is not a good idea, but it depends on the design of the coils and the frequency of interest. In any case I always recommend to use a Gaussian pulse and not a sinusoidal excitation, even if you are only interested in a single frequency... As far as feeding goes, you...

Re: Problem with MPI

Hi,

MPI was/is possible. But I cannot recommend it. It really is not very useful...
So I think you should first try to run your sim without it. Usually the most speedup can be achieved from optimizing your mesh...

Re: Use of multithreading

Hi,

fastest and multithreaded is the same and thus you can omit to set this at all.
As far as number of threads is concerned, that depends on the simulation.
Start with e.g. 2 and work you way up to the number of cores available to see what gives you the best speed.

Re: Bug fix for Qt problem

I have pushed a slightly modified version to github (check for Octave + Windows), will be included in the next release.
Maybe you can check the modified version?

Re: How to make a lumped inductor?

I don't think that SMD inductors (with any reasonable value) do exist. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Theoretically something like this would be possible in a numerical tool but I would not see the point if it does not exist in the real world. As far as a matching network goes I recommend to use a ...

Re: A Luneburg Lens fed by an aperture patch antenna

I think these functions just plot what you feed in. Have a look at some of the antenna tutorials for more details and examples.

Re: Mesh alignment

Hi, I'm not really sure what you mean or what exactly the problem is, but the meshing will always have influence on the results and accuracy. Thus make sure to keep it constant during your investigations and refine it until the results converge. Otherwise I don't really know how to answer your quest...
