So I'm lost... everything looks as it should... I have no idea left... try playing with the names etc.

But this should not happen and it never has...

Can anybody else reproduce this missing files?

@jam, Why is it so slow. Your CPU should be much faster. Did you compile in debug mode??
Try "make -j5 release"

How fast is it with --disable-dumps" ??

Please use our binaries from http://openems.de/index.php/Binaries
This will prove if it's your build environment which is broken.

I've compiled openEMS (and all dependencies) with vtk-5.8.0 on my gentoo box and there are no problems with missing dumps.
Your build is broken.

Yeah I don't have any other explanation left as well.

Strange thing is, that the first dump works, all other are not, which does not make any sense at all...

Would be interesting to see if the binary installation is affected as well (on his system)...

I am happy to report that I've got it to work as expected.

I recompile from scratch using the *gz files and it works as expected.

appcsxcad_0.1.0.orig.tar.gz
csxcad_0.2.4.orig.tar.gz
openems_0.0.27.orig.tar.gz
qcsxcad_0.1.3.orig.tar.gz

Using vtk-5.8 only.

Thank you all for your help.
